After being underwater for more than 19 months the Costa Concordia was finally recovered due to  a 19 hour long operation. Although experts expectations were for the process to take no more than 12 hours they were not expecting issues and delays to occur. The ships recovery has answered many questions, although two still remain. Two bodies of the  32 people that were killed when the ship ran aground have not been found. Captain Francesco Schettino the captain that crashed the Concordia into a reef  off the coast of the Giglio Island on January 13, 2012; claims that the reef was not on the ships nautical charts leading to this catastrophe. Captain Francesco Schettino is on trail and facing charges of “alleged manslaughter, causing a shipwreck and abandoning the ship during the chaotic and delayed evacuation.” The verdict of these charges will be determined within the next couple of months.
